Chapter One :Chapter 1

“Ten minutes and still no ride?”

Outside the bustling high-speed rail station on his first day at Shuzhou University, Ethan West stood by the curb, looking visibly frustrated. Dressed in a plain white shirt and dark jeans, he anxiously stared at his phone screen, the ride-hailing app showing zero driver responses.

To save some cash, he had disabled all surcharge options—only the base fare remained.

“How can I not get a car in such a busy part of Tianfu?”

He kept eyeing the popup suggesting he pay extra. Just when he was about to give in and tap it, a series of crisp chimes rang out in his mind.

“Ding! System successfully bound!”

“Newbie bonus granted!”

“Congratulations! You’ve received: 1 Ferrari SF90!”

“Congratulations! You’ve received: No.1 Mansion at Qionghua Estate!”

“Receive rewards now?”

Ethan froze, totally caught off guard. “Huh? What the hell?”

That voice. It sounded like... one of those cheat systems you read about in novels?

Was this it? Was his luck finally turning?

“A Ferrari SF90? That’s like… millions!”

“A stand-alone villa in Tianfu? That’s gotta be worth a fortune!”

“Receive rewards now?”

“Obviously! Yes, now!”

“Ding! Congrats! Ferrari SF90 has been dispatched — please wait for delivery.”

“Ding! Qionghua Estate No.1 Villa officially assigned!”

“All rewards will be transferred by legal means. Please enjoy!”

Ethan was so thrilled he literally jumped in place, completely losing it.

Just then, a young woman in heavy makeup and flashy clothes walked by and nearly flinched from his sudden excitement. She gave him a quick once-over — plain clothes, duh — and caught sight of the train station building behind him. A smug smirk curled up.

“Wow, first time in the big city and you’re already losing your mind?”

Her voice dripped disdain.

Ethan scratched his nose, a bit embarrassed. Yeah… guess he did overreact just now.

“Sorry about that, miss. I got a little carried away.”

He tried to smooth things over, but the polite word “miss” made her snap.

“‘Miss’? Ugh, you bumpkin. Ever heard of manners?”

That stung.

He thought of his parents — how hard they worked for him, even after losing their jobs during the city redevelopment. His mom now toiled at an electronics factory, his dad swallowed his pride to cover the mortgage. Everything they had was for his future.

Sure, his family wasn’t rich. But he never saw that as a reason to feel ashamed.

Ethan’s expression went cold. “Wow. Your mouth’s kinda toxic, you know that? Did you choke on something at breakfast?”

She hadn’t expected him to fight back and was instantly taken aback. Then she switched gears, putting on a pitiful expression.

“Seriously? You’re just gonna pick on a girl like that?”

They were standing in one of the busiest areas outside the station, and a curious crowd had already started forming.

The woman clearly felt emboldened by the gathering eyes.

“If you don’t apologize, don’t even think about leaving here today!”

Her tone turned more aggressive, clearly trying to stir up the crowd on her side.“Why should I apologize to you? Just because you’ve got more foundation on your face than I’ve got books in my bag?”

Ethan West gave a mocking glance as he spoke.

The heavily made-up girl was caught off guard. Her expression darkened instantly, lips parted but not a word came out.

“That was uncalled for, young man.”

An older woman from the crowd couldn’t help but scold Ethan.

With someone stepping in, the surrounding bystanders started whispering, clearly taking the girl’s side.

But Ethan didn’t flinch. Growing up with a sharp-tongued grandma taught him how to handle situations like this—pick one, go all in.

Facing the nosy woman, he said, “Ma’am, weren’t you watching the whole time? She started this. You really didn’t see that?”

“Even so, isn’t it a bit much for a man to argue with a girl?”

Ethan snorted. If she wanted to play moral police, he wasn’t about to play nice.

“I don’t even know her. Why would I ‘go easy’ on her? If you feel bad for her, why not make her your goddaughter?”

That shut the lady up. Embarrassed, she quickly backed away into the crowd.

The others, realizing the momentum had shifted, began to disperse too.

At that moment, a transport truck slowly pulled up by the curb, grabbing everyone’s attention.

On the flatbed sat a blazing red Ferrari SF90, glinting under the sun.

Several staff members jumped off and scanned the crowd. It didn’t take long for their eyes to land on Ethan and walk briskly toward him.

The young woman’s eyes widened. No way… someone HERE actually owns that car?

Then she watched the team head straight to Ethan.

She quickly shook her head. With how plain he looked, no chance that car belonged to him.

“Excuse me, are you Mr. Ethan West?”

A staff member asked politely.

Ethan shot a glance at the woman and coolly replied, “Yep, that’s me. You guys delivering the car?”

That line caused an instant uproar in the crowd.

People turned to look at him with a mix of shock, envy, and disbelief.

The staffer nodded carefully, “Yes sir, but we’ll need to see your ID for verification.”

Clearly, he didn’t want to risk offending a VIP.

“He looks so broke—how could he afford a Ferrari? Must be some kind of mistake,” the woman muttered.

Ethan chuckled at her loud whisper.

“Whether or not I can afford it isn’t your concern.”

Seriously, did no one teach these people manners?

The woman flushed, realizing everyone had heard her.

But with so many bystanders still watching, she couldn’t just slip away now.

“If you’re really that confident, let’s make a bet,” she said stiffly. “If that car’s really yours, I’ll do a handstand and wash my hair right here!”

Ethan’s face lit up. He raised his voice, turning to the crowd. “Hey, everyone hear that? She said it herself!”

The onlookers perked up immediately, buzzing with excitement.

“This is gonna be good!”

“Go on, bro! Show her what’s up!”

“I can’t wait to see how she’s gonna pull this one off…”

“Heh, you’ve got dangerous thoughts, man…”
